TROPICAL NOUVEAU: An attractive and creative blending of Hawaiian tropicals with temperate flowers in a design.
STEPS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WEDDING CELEBRATION 2020 DESIGN COMPETITION:
  1. Please Register Below to enter the competition. (USA & Canada entries only)
  2. Registration opens on October 20, 2020  and is limited to the first 50 entries (now extended to 100!) or ends November 20, 2020.
  3. Select the box of Hawaiian tropicals that you would like to receive (Box A or Box B) for the competition.
  4. Shipping takes 2 to 3 days.
  5. Create your ‘Tropical Nouveau’ bridal bouquet using a minimum of 50% tropicals and the balance with temperate flowers.
  6. Take good photos of the bouquet in hand – from front, and back on a neutral background
  7. Write a recipe of your bouquet to verify the amount of tropicals and temperates used.
  8. Submit the photos along with the recipe with your name via email to .
 COMPETITION TIMELINE:
  • October 20 (T) : Registration to enter opens at www.hawaiineotropica.com
  • October 26 (M) : Announcement of the panel of judges for the competition Judging score sheet for this competition made available
  • November 23 (M) :  Final day for shipping flower boxes for competitors
  • November 30 (M) : Competition photo submittal deadline at midnight
  • December 1 (T) Top 10 finalists will be announced and their designs revealed via social media For People’s Choice online voting
  • December 11 (F) People’s Choice online voting closes at midnight
  • December 14 (M) Announcement of Competition Winners: (1)Judges’ Decision First Place (2) Second Place (3) Third Place and (4) People’s Choice Winner
  • If you received a shipment of competition tropical flowers, you must submit your entry using them. 
  • If you neglect to submit a competition bouquet, you will be charged for the product. 
  • You do not have to use everything in the box of flowers shipped.   
  • The bouquet must use 50% tropicals to qualify as Tropical Nouveau for this competition
  • Temperate flowers that you use in this bouquet are your choice and at your own expense. As well, you may use any florist supplies and accessories of your choice to complement.
  • The entry must be accompanied by the final recipe of your bouquet.

 

RESULTS:
  • Decisions of judges are FINAL!!  
  • Six select judges will determine the 10 Finalists for online voting for the People’s Choice.
  • Six select judges will determine the First, Second and Third Place winners.
  • Point score judging system will be used to select the winners.

USDA to Host CFAP Producer Webinar August 19 to Discuss Newly Eligible Specialty Crops, Nursery Crops, Cut Flowers and more

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will host a webinar on August 19 at 3 p.m. ET to discuss recently added commodities eligible for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP). Join the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) for detailed examples on specialty crops, nursery crops, cut flowers, eligible aquaculture and more. USDA has extended the deadline and is accepting applications for CFAP through September 11.
